Privacy Policy
Last updated:
AquaCalculators (aquacalculators.com) is a free aquarium calculator website. This policy explains what data the site handles (very little) and what third parties (Google Analytics, Google AdSense) collect when you visit. If anything here is unclear, contact us at [email protected].
The short version
- Your measurements stay on your device. The numbers you type into the calculators are never sent to any server.
- The only things stored are two display preferences: your light/dark theme and your US/Metric units choice, each a single entry in your browser's localStorage. Clearing site data removes them.
- No accounts, no newsletters, no tracking pixels from social networks.
- Google Analytics and (when ads are shown) Google AdSense collect usage data as described below.
What we collect
The site has no user accounts and no server-side storage of visitor data. Calculator inputs are processed entirely in your browser; they are not transmitted, logged or stored anywhere.
Local storage
Two values can be saved in your browser's localStorage, and only after you change the setting they remember:
aquacalculators:theme: whether you chose light or dark mode.aquacalculators:units: whether you chose US (inches, gallons, °F) or Metric (centimeters, liters, °C) measurements.
Neither is a cookie, neither contains personal information, and neither is ever sent over the network. Clearing site data in your browser removes both.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage: which pages are visited, from which countries, on which devices. Google sets cookies and receives your IP address (anonymised with IP anonymisation enabled) to provide this. We do not send Google any information about what you type into the calculators.
- Google's own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
- Opt out of Google Analytics across the web with the official browser add-on, or block it with any content blocker.
Advertising: Google AdSense
The site is funded by advertising. When ads are enabled, Google AdSense and its partners may set cookies to serve and measure ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info.
- Where required by law (EU/UK), a consent banner lets you accept or reject personalised ads before they load.
Ads are clearly separated from the calculators, never cover content, and never mimic interface controls.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA and similar)
Because we do not store personal data, there is generally nothing for us to export or delete. Requests can be directed to the third parties listed above (Google provides export and deletion tools in your Google account). For any question about data handling on this site, email [email protected].
Changes to this policy
If the site starts using new analytics, advertising or storage mechanisms, this policy will be updated and the date above changed.
